Weekend summary

Hi guys,

Another weekend is now to its end and it's been a busy one at Camp Dragsö Sportfishing. More than 50 anglers have tried their luck last 3-4 days with our camp as their base.

A few reports has been shared and these tells me that their results variated a lot. Some guests managed to catch up to 30 pikes/day in the boat while others barely reached over 10 pikes over 3 days. The big ones didn't cooperate to good with our guests this weekend since only 3 pikes over +100cm was caught and about 5-8 pikes over +90cm.

Reports also tells me that anglers still catch pikes full of eggs even though they're not many. Most are done with spawning and are now starting their migration a bit further out from the bays to eat herring and other yummy prey fish.

Next weekend will be a busy one as well with approx 40 anglers coming on weekend packages from Thursday and another 30 anglers coming during the weekend for a week of fishing in our area. We are currently having guests from Sweden, Germany, Slovakia and Denmark who will fish during upcoming week.

Some guided tours are booked upcoming days but also a free day off work for me so more reports to be shared later on in a couple of days!

Kim shared a picture with me before leaving us. Nice catch!

Busy days

Hi guys!

A bit delayed post is now finalized to share on the blog. It's been (and is) some busy days going on at Camp Dragsö Sportfishing at the moment. Currently we host about 50 anglers who are staying at our camp with most of them coming from Sweden but also from Denmark, Finland and France.

With this many guests at the same time, this also involves more working duties for me. 2 boats are already up for their first reparations of this season and with a fully booked boat fleet this is quite a puzzle to manage without problems for our guests. So far so good though and soon even these 2 boats will be ready to hit the water again.

Fishing seems to be a little tricky still. Spawning is more or less ended by now but the pikes seems to be a bit awaiting. Of course pikes are being caught but the numbers tell me that we still aint there yet. Conditions looks good for this weekend so hopefully some good pikes will be reported by our guests on Sunday when most of them leaves us for this time.

Earlier this week my friend Jesper from Carlskrona Sportfishing shared a report where he and his boat company caught 6 pikes over 100cm in one day and also over 40 pikes caught overall. When you find the right spots you can be rewarded big time, obviously!

As mentioned previously I hope to get some reports from our guests to share with you guys later on.

Until next time, have a fishy weekend!

Windy squalls and fishy days!

Hi guys!

As I mentioned in previous post a few days ago I was going to have some days off work so now it's time for another fishing report.

Yesterday invited to extreme conditions since wind was so strong that even some Swedish railways was closed down in south of Sweden due to hard winds. About 20m/s in squalls made it hard for anglers to be out on the water but what the hell, If there is water there is also probably fish to catch!

To be honest it was a bad, really bad day. In many hours I managed to catch 2 pikes and didn't really see to many fish either. Anchor didn't grip most of times and I struggled a lot. Not much more to tell than that......

Today was a new day but with yesterdays results in mind it took me until after lunch to step in the boat. Went out for 5 hours and it didn't take long to catch the first fish of the day. I was testing many new rods today so fishing wasn't performed to effective but I anyhow caught some decent pikes. Big Mcrubber helped me to catch 3 nice pikes just below the meter margin in a small area and my self confidence was restored. Wind was hard today aswell as the rain. I was soaking wet when I got back to Dragsö about 5 hours later.

What to sum up of these trips? Well temperature has dropped a little since last weekend so now we experience water temps around 5-8 degrees in most areas. Many pikes are now done with spawning but still some fat pigs can be seen so after spawn madness will probably have to wait a little more.

Upcoming days will be filled with guided trips and several returning and new groups to arrive in a few days.

Fishy regards,

Mid spawn laziness

Hi guys!

It's been some time since last post so finally I've got some time over to update you about fishing in Karlskrona at the moment.

To be honest fishing is very slow right now. Pikes are busy with spawning so numbers are for sure not as good as previous weeks. Water temp is all the way up to 10-11 degrees at most and with sunny days and rather high day temperatures this makes the situation ideal for some sexy time.

Last weekend we had many fishing guests visiting us but most of them reported about slow fishing. A few boats reached 15 pikes their best day but most guys had even lower numbers. A few decent ones over 100cm was caught anyhow but with so many anglers on site, fishing was poor.

It seems like this weekend is not much better. Numbers are poor and not many big ones is reported. Todays guided 4 hour trip resulted in 6 pikes but the sizes wasn't something to write up in the history books. A lot of pikes seems to be done already while several fish still drop eggs in the boat. My guess is that it will be another week before fishing starts to be really good again. Hopefully sooner than that but only the fishing god knows that.

I will be off work Monday & Tuesday next week and plenty of hours will be spent on the water. Time to catch the last spring pig before all of them are done spawning! A report to be shared later on next week... :)

Guest pictures

Hi guys!

I hope you are having a great easter wherever you are. As usual big holidays brings a lot of guests to us and this easter is no exception. About 65 caravans/campers came a few days ago to celebrate easter and also about 40 anglers who try their luck for some spring pike action. Half way thru the weekend fishing has been hard for most guests unfortunately. This due to several reasons. One is the fact that sun is shining like never before with the combination of very low north winds and rather high day temperatures.

Another fact is that spawning is here and some pikes are in the middle of something more important than feeding at the moment. Spawning is seen daily now but still a few decent pikes are being reported more or less every day even though some pikes already are thin as spaghetti. My good friend Jesper had a successful Thursday with 7 pikes above 91cm which is very good!

Earlier this week I received some nice pictures from Andy who visited us last weekend with some friends. A few of them can be seen down below.

Take care and have a fishy time.
